Worth the Fall by Claudia Connor

Worth the Fall (The McKinney Brothers, #1)Worth the Fall by Claudia Connor
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4.5 Oh Mama Stars

I was drawn by one thing, the mom. Abby is pregnant and has four kids! Crazy right? She goes on vacation six months after her husband dies and tries to continue with life on her own. It’s not an easy life, but Abby accepts it.

In between deployment, Matt goes on vacation to rest and relax. He notices a beautiful pregnant women struggling with four kids and is nothing, but intrigued. He sees her struggle and tries to help, but Abby doesn’t want nor need anyone’s help.

Review

It’s a very unrealistic storyline. What guy wants a pregnant girl with four kids, but it makes for a very good story. I will say, it’s unique and it was a great read. I really like Connor’s writing style. I felt like the whole book was flowing and moved well.

Abby

I love Abby. She’s this strong mom and is taking on the world. She was in a loveless marriage and she’s use to taking care of the kids on her own, but that doesn’t mean her life is easy. She loves her kids a lot and protects her heart completely.

Matt

I’m not sure if strong sexy guy would ever go for pregnant woman, but maybe Abby is that good looking. I like how sweet and caring Matt is. I love reading a Hero having a soft spot for single moms. I also love reading the parts where Matt played with the little kids. He’s a likable guy and you can’t but smile when you read.

Overall

When Abby and Matt first meet, Abby is very cautious at first. I don’t blame her, everyone in her life leaves her. She wants to do things on her own and doesn’t need help. Sweet Matt wants to be the Hero to sweep her off her feet. He doesn’t want to get too close though because he has to return to work.

I love reading the slow build-up of Abby and Matt’s relationship. Their little vacation on the beach was a sweet glimpse of a slow burning romance. It was just too cute to read.

Soon though, Matt leaves and Abby is sad, but she guarded her heart and doesn’t expect much. There’s some back and forth messaging and both try to move forward. Matt struggles with his work and Abby struggles as a single mom.

Both miss each other like mad.

It’s my first Connor book and it won’t be my last. I love the plot, I loved the way it was written and I thought it was absolutely an adorable read. If you have a soft spot for single moms like me, then this one is for you.
