This is my first Cora Reilly book. I’m on this mafia binge read and the book was free so I thought why not? I was surprised on how good it was. I loved the storyline, the writing flow and I’m so happy there are plenty of books in the series to keep me happy because I will read all of them.

If you don’t want to read a preview of what’s to come, I would skip the prologue. I will do that for now on with this series, because I want to go into fresh.
When Aria was fifteen her father told her she would marry Luca. Marriage in the mafia world is more business than love. Since Aria is the dutiful girl, she comes to terms with this, but she is frightened by the idea. Luca is four years older than Aria and is ruthless. He’s a killer and a leader.
Aria is the damsel in distress Heroine I love to read in books. She is eighteen and is getting married to Luca. She’s knows what must happen on her wedding night, but she tries her best to put on a good face. She has been protected her whole life and hasn’t even kissed a boy. She’s very scared of Luca, maybe more so than I would have liked, but it makes her endearing and it gives the book a lot of yummy tension.
Luca is the Hero I love and hate at the same time. He’s really harsh and he even has girls on the side. I know, but it’s something I’ve come to terms with in mafia books. It’s kind of like MC books, it’s just a different world and well men cheat in mafia books, but don’t worry, you will be able to handle it!
I really did like Luca because he’s carries so much on his shoulders it’s cute to see how gentle he can be towards Aria because she needs it, but he doesn’t always provide it. There’s also the secondary characters that I love to read and I can’t wait for their stories, with Luca’s bodyguards, brother and Aria’s sister and cousin, it’s going to be a fun series.
Aria knows the only way out of the marriage is by death and that is not an option so she tries her best to be a good wife, but she’s not ready to take any major steps with Luca. Luca is cold, but he also tries hard to be warm towards Aria. I love how opposite they are and it made for an addicting read.
Overall, it’s a sexy fun book that I couldn’t put down.
