Once Burned (Night Prince #1) by Jeaniene Frost

She's a mortal with dark powers...

After a tragic accident scarred her body and destroyed her dreams, Leila never imagined that the worst was still to come: terrifying powers that let her channel electricity and learn a person's darkest secrets through a single touch. Leila is doomed to a life of solitude...until creatures of the night kidnap her, forcing her to reach out with a telepathic distress call to the world's most infamous vampire...

He's the Prince of Night...

Vlad Tepesh inspired the greatest vampire legend of all—but whatever you do, don't call him Dracula. Vlad's ability to control fire makes him one of the most feared vampires in existence, but his enemies have found a new weapon against him—a beautiful mortal

with powers to match his own. When Vlad and Leila meet, however, passion ignites between them, threatening to consume them both. It will take everything that they are to stop an enemy intent on bringing them down in flames.

Once Burned is part of the Night Prince series. This is my first Jeaniene Frost book. I believe this series is a spin-off of her Night Huntress series, but you don’t need to read the Night Huntress series in order to understand the Night Prince series.

Okay, so my book pusher told me about this author a while now and I did one-click her books, but I never got around to reading them. Until now.

I want to slap myself in the face because I should have read this book a LONG TIME AGO. Its amaze balls. EVERYTHING about this book I loved. I loved the characters, I loved the storyline and I love the way the author writes.

There was never a dull moment and I love me a paranormal read with a new paranormal world. This book was easy to read yet had a complicated enough storyline that kept me focused and intrigued.

Leila was in an accident and because of that she can’t touch people or she will kill them. I know right? Love this storyline. She kind of became recluse and is traveling in the circus until she is kidnapped because of her abilities. Not only she can kill people with her touch but she can see the future, the present and the past. What a gift right?

Vlad is the only vampire that can tolerate Leila and **GASP** her touch. What does this mean? Vlad needs Leila in order to find the people that are after him and his people.

I don’t even know where to start with Vlad. He’s the HERO I long to read for in a book. I can’t describe to you my excitement and happiness as I read about him. He’s ruthless, strong and handsome and I love his authoritative attitude. He can be authoritative towards me anytime.

What really worked for me was the chemistry and banter between Leila and Vlad. They just worked as the Hero and Heroine. I loved reading about their interactions and I love how Leila talks back to Vlad and I love how Vlad is sweet to Leila (to a certain point).  I love how they work together in trying to capture the person seeking revenge on Vlad.

If you love paranormal then you need to read this series. It’s a page-turner for me and I can’t wait for the next book!
