All Wound Up (Play by Play, #10) Jaci Burton [Review]

In the latest Play-by-Play novel from the New York Times bestselling author of Quarterback Draw, a sexy baseball player is done striking out...

Tucker Cassidy is going through a slump—but not on the field. It’s his dating life that’s suffering. After having a painful altercation involving his ex-girlfriend’s knee, Tucker is convinced it couldn’t get worse…until a gorgeous doctor comes to the rescue at his most embarrassing moment.

As the daughter of the owner of the St. Louis Rivers, Dr. Aubry Ross has been around jocks all her life. She knows the ins and outs of all their games, and she isn’t interested in playing.

When Tucker repeatedly lands in the hospital where she’s working, Aubry starts to think he’s getting injured just to see her. Tucker is both funny and sexy, and Aubry is pleasantly surprised to discover he actually respects her job.

When her father disapproves of their relationship, Aubry knows she’d rather lose Tucker than have him lose his job. But Tucker isn’t about to let threats of a trade get in the way of a game-changing love…

 3.5 Pitching Stars

All Wound Up is my third book from the Play-By-Play series. All of them can be read as a standalone and you can read them out of order (I did that).

All Wound Up is Tucker and Aubry’s story.

Aubry is a doctor. Her father owns the baseball team and because of that, she has no intentions of dating a baseball player. She’s 100% focused on her career and she wants to save lives. Tucker is a baseball player. His team is owned by Aubry’s father.

When Aubry and Tucker first meet it was very funny and I laughed out loud. Tucker got kicked in the nuts and Aubry (the professional she is) insisted in checking Tucker’s injuries.  Tucker is fascinated by Aubry and wants to pursue her. Aubry doesn’t want to date a baseball player.

I’m a fan of the Hero chasing after the Heroine. I like how professional Aubry was and I liked she is really career oriented, but not in a stuck up way. She strives to do her own thing and not be part of her father’s business life. She is a Daddy’s girl at heart though.

Eventually Tucker gets hurt a few times and he sees Aubry again. It’s really funny. I love how Jaci’s books are witty and light-hearted.

There’s plenty of steam in this book. Lots and lots of steam. Even though Aubry and Tucker work out in bed, there’s plenty of personal stuff they need to work through. Aubry must find a balance between work and personal life. Tucker needs to balance his baseball career, his family and Aubry’s not so happy father.

I connected more with Aubry than I did with Tucker. I liked Tucker overall. He is sexy and who doesn’t like a baseball player, but I’m not a super sports fan, so there’s plenty of sports talk to give you a background in his field. If you like baseball players, then this book is for you.
I haven’t read that many books in this series, but I did like reading the side characters. It makes me want to go back and read their books. I like that Jaci continues the other stories so you can see where they are at currently.

Like I said, the book has a lot of steam with a career driven oriented main-characters. There’s plenty of tension and stuff to keep you interested. This is for a sports fan romance reader.

Jaci Burton is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling, award-winning author of over 50 books. She lives in Oklahoma and when she isn’t on deadline (which is often), she can usually be found wrestling with her uncooperative garden, wrangling her dogs, watching an unhealthy amount of television, or completely losing track of time reading a great book. She’s a total romantic and longs for the happily ever after in every story, which you’ll find in all her books..
