5 Oh Yes, I LOVE YOU JAKE Stars

Jake Becker is my favorite out of the series. I absolutely am so happy for Sidebarred, it’s the perfect little treat for my still existing book hang over from Sustained. Can you see my face? It’s glowing with happiness. I gobbled this book up like mad and I could have reread it when I finished. If are you are fan of the series, you must read Sidebarred!

Sidebarred is a little novella from the Legal Briefs series. You must read the series to read Sidebarred, or at least Sustained. You can get away from not reading Appealed, but seriously you should have read Appealed as well because it’s fabulous. 

I would describe Sidebarred as an extended Epilogue to Sustained. Its years later and we get a glimpse into the Jake and Chelsea house hold. The kids are older, but the love is still growing strong and pure. The book is 100% in Jake’s POV and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

“Sometimes I look around and wonder, how … did I get here? How is this life? It all changed so fast. But then I stop wondering. Because how this life became mine doesn’t really … matter. I’m just crazy-happy that it is.”

“She’s my love, my home, the solace to my soul, the keeper of my heart, the center of my entire … world. The only reason I really believed in my own goodness is because I see it reflected in her eyes.”

I really loved that the kids are still apparent in the book and it was just really funny and cute. I

laughed out loud so many times my belly hurt. My suggestion is, if you love this series as much as me then read this book blindly. It’s the best way.

Thank you Emma Chase for this little gem, you made me one happy woman.

Chelsea sits beside me on the couch, facing me, her legs tucked, her pretty feet curled under her. Yes—Chelsea has pretty feet, okay? I never knew feet could be pretty—until I saw hers.
“So . . . that talk I mentioned before? We should probably have that now, while we can.”
I take a sip of my drink and nod. “Yeah—I wasn’t at all hoping you’d forget about it or anything.”
Her face slides into a grin. “Funny.”
I look back at her, straight-faced. “I’m a funny guy.”
When she doesn’t say anything for a few moments, I ask, “What’s up?”
Because now I’m actually getting concerned. My stomach tightens as I brace for whatever’s worrying her—and before I even know what I’m up against, in my head I’m already planning all the ways I’ll take care of it. Because that’s what I do—and I’m good at it.
But what she tells me next blows my fucking mind.
“I’m late.”
Two words—ten thousand thoughts exploding in my head at once.
I’m a big guy, six-five, 225 pounds of muscle. Guys like me, our voices don’t squeak. But at this moment, mine comes damn close.
“Like . . . for an appointment?”
Chelsea inhales deeply, then breathes out, “No.”
