Hard Hitter (Brooklyn Bruisers #2) by Sarina Bowen [Review]

He’s a fighter in the rink, but he’s about to learn that playing nice can help you score...

As team captain and enforcer, Patrick O'Doul puts the bruise in the Brooklyn Bruisers. But after years of hard hits, O'Doul is feeling the burn, both physically and mentally. He conceals his pain from his coach and trainers, but when his chronic hip injury becomes too obvious to ignore, they send him for sessions with the team’s massage therapist.

After breaking up with her long-term boyfriend, Ari Bettini is in need of peace of mind. For now, she’s decided to focus on her work: rehabilitating the Bruisers’ MVP. O'Doul is easy on the eyes, but his reaction to her touch is ice cold. Ari is determined to help O'Doul heal, but as the tension between them turns red hot, they both learn that a little TLC does the body good...

4 Hit me Hard Stars
Hard Hitter is a standalone and is part of the Brooklyn Bruisers series. This is Patrick and Ari’s story.  Patrick is the team captain and Ari is the team’s massage therapist.

Ari is a sweet girl and she’s proud of her job. She feels like she makes a difference by keeping the guys loose and ready for the rink. She’s never met anyone like Patrick though. Patrick doesn’t like to be touched and when he has to get a massage he cringes every time. Maybe Ari’s touch will be different.

I found this couple kind of different and I like how Patrick doesn’t like to be touched. It makes me wonder why and the book is kind of mysterious. Ari works with Patrick to open up and be okay with her helping him and his body pains.

Ari also has her own issues because of her crazy ex. Her ex is kind of a wild card and you never know when will confront Ari. Patrick kind of pushes himself in Ari’s life and kind of acts like the protector. You know I love my damsels.

There’s an interesting chemistry between the two and I like reading how they work out their issues.
Overall there are many elements in the book, with Patrick’s past, Ari’s ex and some hockey drama too. If you are a fan of the series, you will not be disappointed.
