The Duchess Deal (Girl Meets Duke #1) by Tessa Dare

When girl meets Duke, their marriage breaks all the rules…

Since his return from war, the Duke of Ashbury’s to-do list has been short and anything but sweet: brooding, glowering, menacing London ne’er-do-wells by night. Now there’s a new item on the list. He needs an heir—which means he needs a wife. When Emma Gladstone, a vicar’s daughter turned seamstress, appears in his library wearing a wedding gown, he decides on the spot that she’ll do.

His terms are simple:
- They will be husband and wife by night only.
- No lights, no kissing.
- No questions about his battle scars.
- Last, and most importantly… Once she’s pregnant with his heir, they need never share a bed again.

But Emma is no pushover. She has a few rules of her own:
- They will have dinner together every evening.
- With conversation.
- And unlimited teasing.
- Last, and most importantly… Once she’s seen the man beneath the scars, he can’t stop her from falling in love…

6 Amazing Stars
The Duchess Deal is a standalone and is the first book of the Girl Meets Duke series. This one, totally blew me away. I was scrolling through Goodreads and I noticed a five star reviews. I then read most of the reviews and EVERYONE was raving about this book. I was 100% intrigued and it met and exceeded my expectations.

I loved The Duchess Deal from the FIRST PAGE. I read this book at a slow pace, trying to gather each and every word. I was savoring this story, never wanting it to end.  This book has everything you could want in a historical romance book.

The Hero has battle scars < - RIGHT?! I know. I’m a sucker for this.

The Heroine is a poor seamstress < - YES! You know I love my damsels.

There’s also witty banter, great tension and an awesome romance. This book was pouring with romance, it’s like every historical romance book should live up to this kind of writing.

Tessa Dare is a genius and I’m a fan, I’m hooked for life and I want more.

The Duke was once a beautiful man that had everything, but after nearly dying and his body mangled with scars he’s a little bitter. I LOVED Ash. I found him the perfect combination of brooding, hot and the complete alpha male package I love to read and lust for.

He’s so angry and bitter towards the world and I loved reading Emma trying to change him.
Emma is smart, loyal and feisty. She’s a gentlemen’s daughter, but after being casted out by her father she learned to live poorly as a working class seamstress.  I love love love Emma. She’s not your typical Heroine. She’s no wallflower and I love these types of girls. Sure they find themselves in hard situations, but that doesn’t mean she is going to crumple. She will make her own way.

The Duke needs a wife and Emma knows this is her best opportunity. She can live the life she always wanted, a simple house in the country.

I love the relationship between Ash and Emma. It had the perfect balance of witty banter, tension and chemistry that kept me interested. The book had great steam! They are so playful towards each other and I could have read hundreds of pages of their dialogue. That was my favorite part of the book.

Gah, I can’t gush on how much I love this book. Once I finished I wanted to read it all over again. If you are looking for the perfect historical romance book, The Duchess Deal is it.
