YAY, it’s another Penelope Douglas book!!!!!
I LOVED Bully and so I’m SUPER excited about Rival. Penelope Douglas is known for creating NASTY heroes that you just can’t help but LOVE!
Madoc and Fallon are step brother and sister. Madoc and Fallon got tangled up in the sheets when they were sixteen. Something happened and Fallon went to boarding school away from Madoc. It’s two years later and Fallon is back for a few weeks before she goes to college.
Both hate each other, but both can’t seem to stay away from each other.
I like Fallon. She’s the tortured Heroine you kind of feel for. You get the impression that she was wronged in the situation. You want to understand what happened and you want her to just stick it to Madoc. She’s back in the house and her only friend is her house keeper. Madoc doesn’t make it easy on Fallon by making her uncomfortable and feeling like crap.
Oh Madoc. You will think he’s mean, a jerk and you want him to leave Fallon alone. However, you get his side of the story throughout the book and as more is revealed, you get a better understanding on where the two stand.
The banter and angst is just right. I’m not a major fan of angst, but Rival had the right amount to keep me going and fully engaged. I’m crazy, but I love how mean Madoc is to Fallon. The second half of the book gets a little heavier. So Rival is no one note poney.
I did feel like the ending was dragged out a bit and I could have been fine without the last 10%, but that is me. Sometimes less is more.
If you loved Bully like me, you will not be disappointed with Rival.
