I’m doing a re-read via the audio version. Besides Fifty Shades of Grey, this is the second series that started my love for romance books. I use to be a closet romance reader. You know what I am talking about. You have those books with the crazy covers and you would only read it at night in your room away from the world. When people ask you what books you read, you say something like The Help because that’s more PC. BUT not anymore.

I’m a proud romance reader and I’m a proud audio romance reader. It’s the best way to re-read any book (in my opinion).

If you haven’t read this series or you weren’t a fan of Fifty, I still think you need to give the Crossfire series a try. It’s different from other books. I think it’s more mature and Gideon, the Hero, is very complex. I really like him, okay, I love him, but seriously I love his issues.  He’s so messed up, so damaged, but he has so much love.

Eva isn’t your typical Heroine. She actually comes from money so she isn’t your damsel in distress character. I really really really liked that. I also like that she is super overprotective parents so when Gideon becomes protective, it bugs her, as it should. She’s strong, sassy and loves to work-out. I think every time I finish a book in this series, it makes me want to run miles on the treadmill, which is a good thing!

I love the relationship between Eva and Gideon. I can’t explain it. They start off as peers and it kind of turns into something explosive. That’s the only way I can describe the relationship, it’s just crazy, consuming, passionate and intoxicating. It’s the relationship I strive to read, a story I strive to find and a story that is just really captivating.

I love it so much, I got the French, Italian and UK version. Do you know how much space books take up when you backpack Europe? See there’s my devotion.

If you haven’t read this series, you should go into blindly. If you have read this series, then do it like me, read it again via the audio.

Consuming, passionate and intoxicating

Who was your favorite character and why?
It’s a toss-up between Eva and Gideon. I am usually partial towards the Hero and I love my dark messed-up ones, but Eva is such a strong character, I really liked that too. Honestly both, work perfectly well together and made the book.

What about Jill Redfield’s performance did you like?
This is my first book by Jill and she is a fantastic Eva. She has a mature voice, but it’s still feminine.  She reads really professionally and I can feel her emotions. I feel it when she’s upset, happy and turned on. I like when she voice transitions into Gideon, it was deep, but not fake. I am a fan.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Of course! It’s a lengthy book, but it’s a page turner. There’s so much that goes on, you will be hooked. I am ready to jump to the next one!

I was lucky enough to meet Sylvia Day when she came to Texas during the RT convention. I ran to her table when the doors open. You know when you meet a super famous author and you think to yourself, is she going to be nice? Well, I can tell you, SHE IS SUPER NICE, SWEET and I LOVE HER! I fan-girl hard, like mega hard.
