I love
Nikki Sloane books. I’ve read all of them and I’m so excited she’s writing a
sports romance. Lately this has been my jam.
The Rivalry is wickedly steamy and the banter between Kayla and Jay is
off the charts good.
Kayla
and Jay meet at a wedding and hit it off. The only thing, Kayla is a cheerleader
for Ohio and Jay is a football play for Michigan. Did I mention those schools
HATE each other? Cute right?
I
enjoyed the premise of the book a lot. I liked that this book is completely different
from what Nikki’ writes. I love the college setting and the slightly lighter
tone. I also love that Nikki still writes with lots of passion and steam
because that’s the one reason why I pick up her books.
I
thought the chemistry between Kayla and Jay was good and if you like angst then
this one is for you. Kayla keeps Jay on his toes because she can’t ever date a
boy from her rival school, even if he’s good in bed. I’ll admit, Kayla annoyed
me at times. I get she’s a die hard fan, but she did put Jay through the
ringer.
I liked
Jay a lot. I found him charming, sweet and I loved that he chased after Kayla.
I love it when the Hero chases after the Heroine.
You
have to go into the story with an open-mind, as some of the events are over the
top, but hey, that’s why we read right?
Overall,
it was an enjoyable read with all the of Nikki style of writing I love. If you
are a sports fan or like steamy reads thent his one is for you.
