Blood Type (Blood Type #1) by K.A. Linde

For Reyna Carpenter, giving up her body isn’t a choice. It’s survival.
In a civilization laid waste by poverty and desperation, Reyna accepts a high-paying position with the wealthy and hungry vampire elite. Her new job is as the live-in blood escort for the intimidating, demanding, and devilishly handsome Beckham Anderson. He’s everything she expected from a vampire, except for one thing—he won’t feed off her.

Reyna soon discovers that behind Beckham’s brooding, wicked façade lies a unique and complex man. And that, in a dark and divided world, she is more valuable than she ever would have believed.

For with each passing night, Reyna can’t shake the sensation that it’s Beckham who’s afraid of
her.

4 Please Bite Me Stars

When I realized K.A. Linde was going to write a paranormal book I was all over that. Nothing excites me more than a new paranormal book. I love serial Vampire books. Event though this is a three book series, after reading Blood Type, I can totally read tons more books. I feel like the Vampire world K.A. Linde creates is limitless.

The thing I like most about Blood Type is the type of world the characters live in. The Vampires and Human live together in an almost dystopian society. The economy collapsed and there’s a huge divide in the upper and working class. The Vampires dominate the upper class and the humans are the working class, not all, but most.

Reyna doesn’t want to be a burden for her brothers anymore and decides to do what she can only do to bring in money for the family. She decides to work for a corporation that matches humans to Vampires so the humans can provide blood 24/7. Also known as a blood escort.

Don’t you love it? The premise of the book is the best and within the first few pages I was glued to the book and I couldn’t put it down. I read Blood Type within one sitting just wondering how everything will go down.

Beckham is a wealthy and powerful Vampire. He works with the corporation that has hired Reyna and Reyna is also his blood escort. The only thing is, he doesn’t seem interested in drinking from Reyna.

Beckham was very difficult in this book and frustrated me at times, but that is so typical K.A. Linde. She creates hateable, but loveable heroes. You want to slap and jump with them at the same time. Beckham has a hot and cold personality that was difficult to warm up to, but it kept you curious to why he acts the why he acts.

Also, like typical K.A. Linde fashion the book has angst and the tension between Beckham and Reyna is high. You will be rooting for them to get their act together and just work it out. During all of the drama, you soon learn the world the characters live in is harsh. There’s a lot of poor and starving people and also dangerous people.

I liked the political aspects of the book as well and it added a little something to the story other than the romance part. I was curious to where it would go and how everything would develop.

Overall, I enjoyed Blood Type and if you are a fan of K.A. Linde, you will not be disappointed.

I was lucky to meet K.A. Linde. She always has cute dresses on and I just want to squeeze her when I see her (of course I don't because that is just creepy). I love the Record series! More photos HERE

USA Today bestselling author K.A. Linde is the author of The Affiliate, the first book in the Ascension Series.  As a military brat, she traveled the world with her family, imaginary friends, and ever-increasing supply of books.  She has spent much of her life dreaming up new worlds and characters and forcing them into uncomfortable, usually life-threatening scenarios.  After graduating from the University of Georgia with a masters degree in political science, she began spending every waking hour putting those characters onto paper.

When not writing, she spends her time dancing, collecting paperbacks in the hopes of filling a Beauty and the Beast style library one day, traveling to visit her friends who live all over the country, and still reading anything she can get her hands on.  She currently resides in North Carolina with her husband and two puppies, Lucy and Riker, where she is hard at work on her next novel.
