A new love will test the boundaries of passion between a privileged boy next door and the tattooed, blue-haired girl who helps him embrace his wild side...
Nate has developed quite a playboy reputation around campus. It's not that he doesn't respect or trust women; he doesn't trust himself. The men in Nate’s family are prone to abusive behavior—a dirty secret that Nate’s been running from his entire life—so Nate doesn't do relationships. But he can’t help himself around one girl…
Jessie is strong, independent, and works at a tattoo parlor. Nate can’t resist getting close to her, even if it’s strictly a friendship. But it doesn't take long for Nate to admit that what he wants with Jessie is more than just friendly.
With Jessie, he can be himself and explore what he’s always felt was a terrifying darkness inside him. Even when Nate begins to crave her in a way that both shocks and horrifies him, Jessie still wants to know every part of him. Testing their boundaries together will take a trust that could render them inseparable… or tear them apart.
4 Pushing the boundaries Stars
Promise Me This was a little different from the previous books in the series. I felt like Christina Lee pushed the story a bit and it went the right direction.
Nate
Nate is a player and he’s known to never bed the same girl twice. He also has daddy issues and a somewhat dark past. He doesn’t want to go off the deep end and works very hard to keep his control in check. I liked Nate. He’s the typical bad boy we love to read and yes at times I felt certain things were blown out of the water, but other than that, he’s a character you can learn to love and understand.
Jessie
Jessie is the opposite of rich Nate. She has tattoos, she colors her hair all the time and she likes the bad boys with gauges and are rough around the edges. She’s had her eye on Nate, but doesn’t want to do anything with him because of his reputation with girls. Jessie is not your typical bad girl and that’s a good thing. Sometimes when the Heroine is too strong, it can be a turn off for me, but I really enjoyed reading Jessie.
Overall
Nate and Jessie go on a road trip to take pictures of bridges. I really like this and through there mini road trip they kind of form a relationship. This is not the entire story, but just a tiny part of it. You can really see how Christina Lee builds up the relationship and there’s plenty of character development.
However, Nate comes from a broken home and an abusive father and he doesn’t want to become that. Nate works hard in keeping his anger in check, but when he enjoys the darker side of sex, it confuses him.
The guy likes it a little rough and kinky in bed and thinks it’s bad. Now, I read a lot of dark books, so to me Nate is very tamed, but I know a lot of readers who will be on par with this. Jessie is my kind of girl in the sense she isn’t timid or shy around Nate and all she wants to do is take photos.
Promise Me This was such an easy read overall was enjoyable. I would have liked it darker, but I’m not sure everyone is up to my kind of dark reads. If you are a fan of the series you will not be disappointed.
Mother, wife, reader, dreamer. Christina lives in the Midwest with her husband and son--her two favorite guys. She's addicted to lip gloss, salted caramel everything, and believes in true love and kissing, so writing romance novels has become a dream job.
