Gideon Cross. As beautiful and flawless on the outside as he was damaged and tormented on the inside. He was a bright, scorching flame that singed me with the darkest of pleasures. I couldn't stay away. I didn't want to. He was my addiction... my every desire... mine.
My past was as violent as his, and I was just as broken. We’d never work. It was too hard, too painful... except when it was perfect. Those moments when the driving hunger and desperate love were the most exquisite insanity.
We were bound by our need. And our passion would take us beyond our limits to the sweetest, sharpest edge of obsession...
Sigh …. 5 I love you Gideon Stars
I love this series so much.
Reflected in You is probably one of my favourite books in the series. I love all the books, but this one pretty much gutted me and I loved the direction Sylvia Day took it.
As Gideon and Ava continue with their relationship, they obviously still have issues. Gideon is closed-off, but loves passionately, even if he doesn’t tell Ava it. I’m not a big fan of angst and I wouldn’t say Reflected in You had a lot of angst, but there was definitely tension.
What I love so much about this book are the problems between Gideon and Ava. Even though there are problems, they still try to work it out. To me, it feels like a realistic couple and I was rooting for them to the very end.
Ava’s past love comes back and it causes more tension. I don’t always agree with Ava’s actions, but I can understand them. She’s a woman, an emotional one and she thinks with her heart first. Gideon tries to open up, but something prevents him from fully exposing himself and it drives Ava insane. It drives me insane too, but honestly it’s the reason why I loved this one so much.
Gideon’s love for Ava is the stuff I crave for in books. He would do anything for her and yes, he has many faults and you want to smack him around a bit, you can’t help but love the man and want to be in his arms.
I did an audio re-read and it’s my favorite form of re-reading. I love the narrator and I’m happy to hear her voice for the whole series. She is Ava to me and I could listen to the book again after I finished.
Audio Questions
Would you consider the audio edition of Reflected in You to be better than the print version?
This is a tough question because I think I get different experiences with reading a book and listening to one. I love reading a book because I set my own pace and it's a bit easier to understand. BUT I love audio books because it lets me re-experience the book without having to read it. So it feels like it's the first time.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Reflected in You?
The ending was my favorite part of the book because it kind of summed up the whole book. I liked that the author threw that in there and it made me love the series even more.
Which character – as performed by Jill Redfield – was your favorite?
I love her as a narrator. I found her pace perfect and she was Ava to me in my mind. She's not too girly, but she sounds like a woman. You can tell she's a seasoned narrator and I'm looking forward to listening to her for the rest of the series.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
This is kind of like the other question, but the main moving parts to me where all the parts where the main couple grew. Every time Gideon was exposed or every time Ava reflected, it kind of was a turning point in the book. This book had me in knots, but in a very good way.
I was lucky enough to meet Sylvia Day when she came to Texas during the RT convention. I ran to her table when the doors open. You know when you meet a super famous author and you think to yourself, is she going to be nice? Well, I can tell you, SHE IS SUPER NICE, SWEET and I LOVE HER! I fan-girl hard, like mega hard. I kept on talking about how much I love her, her books and I asked to give her a hug and she was sooooo wonderful and hugged me back. GAH. Dreams do come true. More Pictures here
