College senior Sabrina James has her whole future planned out: graduate from college, kick butt in law school, and land a high-paying job at a cutthroat firm. Her path to escaping her shameful past certainly doesn’t include a gorgeous hockey player who believes in love at first sight. One night of sizzling heat and surprising tenderness is all she’s willing to give John Tucker, but sometimes, one night is all it takes for your entire life to change.
But the game just got a whole lot more complicated
Tucker believes being a team player is as important as being the star. On the ice, he’s fine staying out of the spotlight, but when it comes to becoming a daddy at the age of twenty-two, he refuses to be a bench warmer. It doesn’t hurt that the soon-to-be mother of his child is beautiful, whip-smart, and keeps him on his toes. The
problem is, Sabrina’s heart is locked up tight, and the fiery brunette is too stubborn to accept his help. If he wants a life with the woman of his dreams, he’ll have to convince her that some goals can only be made with an assist.
4.5 Unexpected Love Stars
The Goal is a standalone and is part of the Off-Campus series. This is Sabrina and Tucker’s story. I love this series and I love this author. Although each book is based on one of the guys on the hockey team, each one is unique and different. The Goal is placed at the same time (sort of) as the previous books. So if you read The Score then you know what happens to Sabrina and Tucker, which made me even more excited for their story.
I love Tucker. I found him very romantic, loyal, kind and just an overall stand-up guy. He’s a player yes, we all know he had a foursome with three girls, but it’s just a matter of him finding the right girl. Right?
Sabrina is young, bright and has her whole life mapped out for her. She wants to go to Harvard Law School and get out of her run-down home that she shares with her Nana and her creepy stepfather. I really appreciate Sabrina’s story. She’s poor, ambitious and hard working. She don’t need no man!
So Tucker and Sabrina forms a no strings attached relationship. This should go smoothly right? What I enjoyed most about this story is that it’s basically about Tucker and Sabrina. Yes, you need get the previous characters and I loved that, but the main focus was on the main characters.
Also, Tucker playing hockey wasn’t the main focus in this book, which made it a little different from the previous books and I liked that.
The beginning is cute and it sets up the story. Towards the middle the story shifts and that’s when I got really into it. I really enjoyed reading Tucker and Sabrina’s ups and downs and all around. The tension was mild with little to no angst, but enough to keep you interested. The book is also meaty giving you plenty to digest.
If you are a fan of the series you will not be disappointed.
