Legend (Real #6) by Katy Evans [REVIEW]

Maverick “the Avenger” Cage wants to rise to the top and become a legend in the ring. Though he keeps his identity well guarded, he's known on the fighting circuit as the new kid with a chip on his shoulder and a tattoo on his back that marks him as trouble. He's got a personal score to settle with the Underground's one and only Remington "Riptide" Tate.

As Mav trains, he meets a young girl—the only other new person in the town--and sparks fly. When things get heated between them, he finds out she's none other than Reese Dumas, the cousin of Remington Tate’s wife. A girl who's supposed to root against him and a girl he's supposed to stay away from.

But Maverick fights for the woman in his heart, and the monsters in his blood. The world’s eyes are on them and the victor will go down in history as the ultimate fighting champion; the ultimate LEGEND.

4.5 “The Avenger” Stars
Legend is the sixth and final book in the REAL series. I know, it makes me want to cry too. I love this series and it’s one of the first NA romance series I’ve picked up. Remy is one of the original book boyfriends I fell in love with and I’m so happy it kind of circles back to him with this final novel.

This is Maverick’s story and just when you thought your heart belong to Remy, Mav will try to steal some of it away. Legend is a sweet and wonderful tale about overcoming past prejudices and striving to be the best version of you. It’s a melt-your-heart book and will put a smile on your face.

“You have the world’s prettiest face… On the prettiest body. With the prettiest smile. And a voice I think of when it’s all quiet”

Mav is an underdog. He wants to be the best and in order to be the best he must beat the best and that includes Remington Tate. Now that’s a heavy order right? I love that Mav is an underdog. He doesn’t have two cents to his name, but he’s willing to go for his dreams. He wants to be better than his boxing father. Mav wants to be a Legend.

Reese is Brooke’s cousin and Reese takes care of Racer while they all travel for Remy’s competition. It’s not a single mother story, but I completely love the single mother vibe. Reese loves  her family and they are her number one top priority so when Mav comes into the picture, Reese is all out of sorts.

I really love the Reese / family dynamic. It’s really cute and we all love Brooke and Remy from the original books so I was really pleased they had a huge influence in this one. Brooke and Mav are kind of start crossed lovers in a sense that Mav comes from very bad roots. Bad roots Reese is hesitant to be part of.

“There is something about telling someone a secret that binds and locks you together. And there is something about somebody knowing everything about you that makes you aware of how much work you still have to become better you. “

“I’m going to be a legend. And a legend will never be gone, even when six feet under. And a legend gets the girl. A legend wins the girl”

The thing I really love about this story is that it’s a sweet and simple story about a man wanting a woman he doesn’t believe he deserves but does everything he can be the man she deserves. I LOVE THAT! I love it when the Hero chases the Heroine and I love Mav’s non-stop pursuit of Reese. The book is not angsty and to my surprise is tamer than Katy’s usually high dramatic books, but honesty I couldn’t see it any other way.

It’s a beautiful story that concludes a beautiful series.
